Five political parties still deregistered by INEC after Court judgement
Five deregistered political parties seeking the restoration of their registration which was cancelled by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in February earlier this year, have been dismissed by The Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to Vanguard, The five deregistered parties are: Liberation Movement, the Nigeria Community Movement Party, United Peoples Congress, Defence of Democracy, Democratic Peoples Congress and Movement For Restoration.
The political parties were deregistered for their inability to meet the minimum constitutional requirements of election victories in the 2019 poll as stipulated in Section 225(a) of the Nigerian Constitution.
